Genre: On-site immersive puzzle game / Religious suspense narrative

Format: Physical site exploration + printed clue materials + multi-perspective storytelling

Location: Forest Lawn Great Mausoleum, Glendale, California

Players take on the role of a detective retracing the footsteps of a priest who once worked at the Forest Lawn Great Mausoleum. Through exploring this solemn and sacred space, they uncover the priest’s hidden notes and symbolic clues, gradually reconstructing his state of mind before his confession—and ultimately uncovering the mystery behind his actions.
— Guided by these clues, players attempt to piece together what the priest contemplated in this place, and more importantly, why he chose to confess.

Background

Game Flow

Winston Finch, a priest employed at Forest Lawn Cemetery, was arrested on suspicion of murdering five lawyers. Though he admitted guilt upon being taken into custody, he refused to answer most questions and has since waited calmly in a holding cell for his sentencing.

When asked why he killed the five lawyers, Finch claimed they were legal consultants for a corporation called MediLice and had exploited legal loopholes to delay lawsuits, financially ruin victims, fabricate evidence to manipulate trials, assist in land seizures under the guise of charity, and falsify reports to cover up the deaths of experimental drug subjects.

As the detective assigned to the case, you sense something is off. First, there is no direct evidence linking the priest to the murders. Second, the victims’ deaths are unusually bizarre: one was crushed by a safe, another fell from a balcony, a third choked to death from airway obstruction, a fourth was found in a locked office with a pen lodged fatally in his skull—without any trace of another person—and the last, despite being in perfect health, died mysteriously of sudden heart failure.

Finch was arrested primarily because he was the first person found near each of the bodies after the deaths occurred.

Upon conducting a background check, you find that Finch is a devout and compassionate man with no prior criminal record or suspicious affiliations. However, a search of his home uncovers a notebook detailing crimes committed by the five deceased lawyers.

Material: Visitor log at last day

The priest’s notebook mentions a suspicious individual, referred to only as “Him.” This particular entry was deliberately hidden by the priest, suggesting that the person in question is likely the true culprit.
Alongside the notebook was a visitor log, and one of the names on that list may belong to this mysterious figure. Find out who he is?

This mysterious killer appears to have executed the unnamed lawyers under the guise of judgment.

But what sin were they judged for?

And in the eyes of the killer, what had the lawyers stolen?

Material: Father’s note

Solution:

The initials of Daniel Oliver Grant spell D.O.G., and the priest claimed to have seen G.O.D. in the mirror.
This symbolic reversal suggests that the person who signed in as Daniel Oliver Grant is the prime suspect.

The lawyers were guilty of theft—they had stolen the Lord’s hermeneutic authority, the divine right to interpret the law in His name.
